Role & Responsibilities:
- Perform Safety and Occupational Health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety enforcement.
- Participates as the Field Service Operation primary safety contact at the client owned facility, operated by the US Army Corp of Engineers (or other client for EHS)
- Promotes and ensures all employees and operations comply with applicable project/site rules & regulations, related company policies & procedures, and federal safety regulations.
- Acts as technical advisor to site personnel and operations requesting safety guidance.
- Conducts daily safety and health inspections and maintains the Gensuite Database for the areas/operations inspected, date of inspection (Inspection Tool), identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, and estimated and actual dates of corrections (Action Tracking System). Reports the findings and makes recommendations to the Site Manager or Lead management representatives and ensures proper follow-up action. Documentation to US EHS Manager.
- Conduct inspections of fall arrest equipment, electrical cords, and powered tools following project quarterly verification procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all customer, state, and federal laws pertaining to safety and hazardous chemical disposal and storage methods.
- Conduct safety training on all required topics. Including site New Hire Orientation and contractor safety orientations, Confined Space entry, forklift certifications, HazCom, lead awareness, PPE, respirator wear as necessary, fall protection etc.
- Collects, evaluates, and distributes pertinent safety information to improve Field Service site safety. Maintains all site EHS Communication Boards.
- Maintains all site-required documentation related to safety issues, i.e. accident reports, OSHA postings, etc.
- Maintain a safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution. A list of unresolved safety and health deficiencies shall be posted on the safety bulletin board. (Gensuite Action Tracking System)
- Conduct mishap investigations and complete required reports. Maintain the OSHA Form 300 and Daily Production reports for prime and Sub-Contractors. If a mishap involves an employee and injury, the SSHO shall support and walk the employee through every step of the recovery process. Incidents shall be documented within Gensuite within 24 hours of an event.
- Keeps informed of all applicable federal and state-related requirements and provides advance notice of any potential impact to the Field Service Operation.
- Attend customer meetings as required, including preconstruction conferences.
- Enforce, create, and update accepted APPS and AHA’s (JSA, JHA or other Risk assessments)
- Ensure sub-contractor compliance with safety and health requirements including orientations and routine inspections (minimum monthly).
- Participates as the facility’s primary contact and will include EHS Manager for US Sites during OSHA inspections and report inspection results to management.
- Conduct and document monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, First Aid stations, and eye wash stations. (Documented within Gensuite)
- Management retains the discretion to add or change job duties at any time, including intermittent administrative functions.
- A minimum of 10 years’ of safety work of a progressive nature with at least 3 years of experience on similar projects
- 30-Hour OSHA Construction safety class or equivalent within the last 3 years
- An average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 3 years with training for competent person status for at least the following areas of competency: Scaffolding; Fall protection; Hazardous Energy, Confined Space; Health hazard recognition, evaluation and control of chemical, physical and biological agents; personal protective equipment and clothing to include selection, use and maintenance.
