Role & Responsibilities:
Manages the successful development of compliant, competitive, and compelling proposals in response to RFXs, pre-qualifications, and EOIs through effective collaboration across the business. Partnering with Business Development, Marketing, Delivery Operations and External Partners, the successful incumbent will align pursuit and proposal efforts with the growth of our firm.
Responsibilities:
- Have direct accountability for the following aspects of the pursuit management group operations:
- Provide overall strategic leadership support for identified pursuits/projects
- Support the client pursuit team, to navigate and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pursuit
- Work directly with account teams in the execution of the Pursuit Methodology process to drive the development of compliant and compelling proposals
- Manage performance of immediate team members
- Lead and guide proposal teams in developing a strategic approach:
- Act in a strategic role, from pre-RFP to oral presentation stages
- Act as the central point of contact for the proposal development process -
- Evaluate the solicitation requirements
- Manage a timely process
- Work with technical teams to develop content that is clear, effective and consistent
- Brainstorm solutions providing tactical advice and guidance with the ability to drive strategy and solutions that result in winning submissions
- Manage team members (of various specialties and at various levels of seniority) to develop responses that meet the needs of potential clients
- Demonstrate the ability to bring creativity and innovation to the framing and structuring of proposal
- Have responsibility across multiple, concurrent projects
- Serve as an Orals Coach (as needed) with the following responsibilities:
- Oral's planning, scripting, coaching
- Facilitate orals strategy sessions
- Create outlines for story development
- Guide teams to create emotive messaging
- Develop and communicate rehearsal schedules and logistics
- Determine and produce appropriate deliverables
- Prepare teams for orals delivery, Question and Answer sessions
- Facilitate the oral debrief sessions, and post-orals strategy
- Adjust to shifting priorities, stringent deadlines, last-minute requirements, to accomplish tasks within non-negotiable client deadlines.
- Conduct post-submission proposal debriefs to determine future proposal strategies and potential process and tool changes:
- Interview team members on successful or unsuccessful strategies and tactics.
- Share results as appropriate and refining future proposal strategies and training.
- Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of proposal management processes, tools, and templates.
- Content Management responsibility:
- Interfaces with Business Units to help develop content in support of company products & services.
- Regular contribution to the repository of templates, standard language, product collateral, exhibits, and other data resources to create high-quality and accurate responses.
- Utilizing SharePoint, organizes a central proposal and content management filing and coding structure to streamline document management.
- Drive people and process to execute initiatives.
- Crosstrain, shadow, and onboard team members.
- Coach and mentor Proposal Management team members.
- Relevant post-secondary experience - college diploma or university degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (a combination of technical, contractual, and general business skills is preferred).
- Experience managing and growing Proposal Management teams.
- Training in formal capture/proposal methodologies (APMP Certification is an asset)
- Experience in proposal management, proposal development, and in the direct management of proposal team members.
- Experience implementing Industry-wide best practices in proposal management
- Experience in leading large complex proposals.
- Excellent communicator - both written and oral.
- Experience leading teams in strategic discussions and increasing the probability of win
- Experience in public speaking and presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other Content/Proposal Management Tools.
- Working knowledge of public procurement and vendor portal domains; SAP, MERX, Bids & Tenders, etc.
- Experience proposing and contracting advisory, engineering, construction, and project management services.
- Strong understanding and capability to review and interpret contractual terms and conditions.
- Strong financial, commercial, cost estimating and pricing skills and abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple, major tasks concurrently and shift quickly back and forth between them.
