Role & Responsibilities:
  • Support licensing activities with input from the Project Team for deployment of the project and provide support to Engineering for assigned design activities.
  • Support preparation, review, and conduct of technical and licensing presentations in assigned areas.
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with the project as directed.
  • Prepare and review responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), as well as other correspondence and licensing submittals, as directed.
  • Prepare and review responses for correspondence from the project as directed.

Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, scientific discipline, or other related technical fields.
  • Ten years or more interacting with nuclear power plant licence applicants and licence holders preferred.
  • Experience in preparation of licensing submittals, and facilitation of reviews and approvals in support of nuclear power plant or other nuclear facility licence applications.
  • Experience in regulations and licensing processes, including Preliminary Safety Analysis Report preparation and validation, responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), and licence application decisions and approvals.
  • Specific experience in regulations and regulatory guidance in one or more of the following technical areas:
  • Canadian nuclear power plant licensing requirements for design processes, construction, commissioning, operation, and decommissioning
  • Nuclear power plant structures, systems, and components classification process
  • Equipment qualification and environmental factors
  • Human performance programs
  • Protection against internal and external hazards
  • Reactor fuel design and core management requirements
  • Reactor pressure vessel and ASME Class 1 valve design requirements
  • Emergency core cooling system and other engineered safety features design requirements
  • Dry containment design, including containment isolation requirements
  • Evaluation of normal operation, anticipated operational occurrences, postulated accidents, and beyond design basis events, including transient and accident analysis and acceptance criteria requirements
  • Safety-related structural design requirements
  • Operational limits and considerations
  • Onsite and offsite radiological dose analyses
  • Emergency management and emergency planning zone development
  • Electrical systems design
  • Instrumentation & Controls design
  • Other nuclear safety systems
  • Non-nuclear safety systems
  • Radiation protection programs
  • Radiological and chemical effluent management systems and monitoring programs
  • Fire protection systems and programs
